About me
Andrea D’Angelo, a novelist
--
I’m an Italian living in Spain since 2010 with my Venezuelan wife, our preciousss daughter of 6, and our smart dog.
Writing has been my life for better or worse.
I’ve been a published author between 2001 and 2005, finalist with all my novels at the best Italian award for genre fiction. Then I slammed the publishers’ door, and I vanished into the air. Yeah, that was me. Brave and stupid.
Before burning out, I wrote my last novel in 5 years — never published, because I wanted to stay anonymous and found out it was impossible for someone without the fame of Stephen King!
I had written the earlier novel, the last published, in 4 months.
It was a signal: mine was an implosion.
I fell hard, losing all my vision, replacing daydreams with delusions and self-pitying for too many years.
In 2018, I slowly reared up my ugly head again. I came close to destroy everything I had. Since then, step by step, I went back to my dreams.
Medium, the discovery of nonfiction writing, and the English language have been three important factors to bring back my passion and resurrect my vision. But I’m a novelist, and when I write nonfiction I’m like an apprentice.
My debut was a trilogy of 1,5 million words with 83 principal characters, and I don’t know how many subplots. I master that, not articles!
“Triple” is born intending to tell you how a novelist lives writing and how writing is a holistic matter that embraces life in all its aspects. This is my first serious project on Medium.
The experiments are over. I’m back and from now on I will write with a clear direction in mind.
